I have a father who didn’t just have me hold the tools, he had the patience to show me how to use them.  At an early age he instilled in me his philosophy about fixing, maintaining, and/or improving something in and around the home:  Try it yourself first.  You may fix it, you PROBABLY won’t make it worse, and you’ll definitely learn something.  For the past 25+ years I have been a television reporter, anchor, and host in Michigan/Indiana as well as a nationally syndicated correspondent for HouseSmartsTV.  I’ve been able to mesh my unquenchable DIY curiosity with helping audiences learn from the most knowledgeable, passionate and talented experts in all facets of home improvement.   I’m also the guy with a dozen unfinished projects and nearly every tool you can imagine, preventing my (eternally patient) wife from actually parking in the garage.
