Roll Air Filter?

Hello, what the different from the filter Rolls vs the filers with the frame that you buy at Lowes or Walmart? The A/C guy comes to our business once a month to change out the filter and he always cut up the roll to size and change it out.

It was more than forty years ago but the only roll filters I am familiar with were absolutely horrible. They were eight to twelve feet wide and had a really sticky surface to catch the smaller particles of dirt. We mounted a full roll on the top, threaded down to the take-up spool and it had a motor drive that would move it a few inches a day. Took a month or two to run the entire roll and then you had to change it out again. The new roll was horrible with the sticky but the old roll was even worse with the sticky and the dirt. They were effective, though and relatively inexpensive.

In your case, I suspect they are simply using a rolled dry filter material and cutting it to size to save a few cents per filter. Not worth it in my opinion.

You can use the filters with the frames if the frame fit into something.
Normally.... if the system is designed for a framed filter.... it will slide in to a housing.

I've seen a few mobile homes that had odd size filters and to get a good fit you need to use those but if it takes a standard size I can't see going thru the extra trouble of cutting it to fit.
