Room A/C (FRA106HT2) not cooling well

My 5 year old Frigidaire 10k btu bedroom ac seems not to be cooling a very small room (175 sq ft.). The fan blows mostly hot air, and cools infrequently. This is not a new problem, but I'm getting fed up.

Is there any setting I'm not using correctly?

I set temp to 72 and the ac lets the room get to 80. Auto fan, energy saver.

Set temp to 60, and room gets to 77.

My 14k btu in the living room seems fine.

Any thoughts are welcome.

This is a thru-the-wall unit ?

Since you have airflow.... the blower is working.
Since you don't have cold air.... the compressor is not working.

It could be a defective thermostat or a problem with the compressor. There isn't much you can do with a window A/C without taking it out of the window and apart.

Actually..... if the energy saver is working (where the stat controls the fan and compressor)....
the stat is ok. That leaves a compressor or compressor relay problem.

Yes, a through the wall unit. Thanks. That's what I'm afraid to learn. You may be correct. Since it's guiding guts are mostly electronic these days, the ac may be fried, and replacement may be the only solution vs cost of repair.
