Service valve leak - repair or not?

I am a home owner. 17 year old 10 SEER Rheem 2 ton. Freon leaks. Service engineer found leaky service valve, the one with snap ring. Schraeder valves may leak, too, but they are minor in repair cost.

QUESTION: I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars on this old system. How would you advise? Thank you.

What's better.... a hundred dollars on repairs or a hundred dollars on refrigerant every year ?

If you don't spend the money on the repairs what are your plans.... replace the system ?

My apology for not being clear. I am weighing between the valve repair and system replacement. $500 into a 17 year old system vs 3000-3500 brand new unit. Thank you.
