14 year old A/C problems. yeah I know....
Came home from vacation to no A/C. I washed radiator fins, they were dirty. The compressor was warm to touch, not too hot to touch. I can turn the compressor fan blade by hand, but when energized, The fan won't come on and makes a humming, and slight vibration, then I hear compressor try to click on, fan never turns.
PS, the furnace is in the attic, so the cool coil is inside the furnace, the ac radiator is outside with compressor and fan. The furnace fan works.

What's wrong with 14 years old?
Check the capacitor, and test with a meter if there's no visible damage or swelling.

Welcome to the forums.
Your lucky the compressor still starts. A couple of days of that operation while you were away was enough to damage it.
Like roughneck mentioned.... you need to focus on the capacitor in the outside condensor that runs the fan.
If you don't have a meter.... just change it.
Don't allow the system to keep running like that.
Be sure power is off to the outside unit while messing around inside.

Thanks roughneck77, I'll test the capacitor, I have a multimeter to test with. appreciate the assist.
