best room size ac's

Have a 2 year old plus GE window AC......has totally quit running. Just hear humming noise when try to start. Would it be repairable? Or best bet on better quality AC unit

That sounds like the compressor is running but the blower is not. Any window A/C is repairable but it comes down to if it's something you personally can accomplish or need to pay to have done. It requires the unit to be removed and opened for diagnosis. If it's a small unit..... it's usually more cost effective to replace it. If you want to work on it.... we can guide you thru what to check.

As far as new units.... I don't make any recommendations. Try Consumer Reports.

Anything GE equates to junk, IMO. Had an LG for 5 years, then the control box went, but worked with the remote, then at the end of last season, totally went. Decided to get a new one rather than fix.
Got a Frigidaire and so far, so good, but it's only one season. I read that today's window airs last about 5 to 6 years, so not sure the brand matters anymore.
