quote for outside A/C condenser unit/coil and install

Hello to all,

Had a hvac company thoroughly troubleshoot a non-functioning hvac system and they determined outside unit (A/c condensor and coil need to be replaced as the coil is the site of the leaking refrigerant).

For a 5 ton, 16 seer condensor unit + coil kit (lennox) - parts/labor all in - I was quoted $4700

does this sound reasonable? if, yes, what kind of warranty should the hvac company provide as well, if any?

if this does not sound reasonable, any particular reason? (or just a high price)

it seems a 5 ton 16 seer condenser + coil unit can run approx $2500, true? Does an addition $2K in labor sound reasonable? hm. All the existing lines will be reused.

any other thoughts?

Thanks

how do you know 5 ton is the right size?

evap coils btw can be replaced but not worth it after a certain point.

5 ton is big unit for a home.

A Goodman unit runs around $2250 for the size you quoted so I'd expect the Lennox to be slightly more. Lennox has some type of promo running now. Check the link.

Lennox promo
