Wet looking dry concrete

Hi Guys,

I pulled my water softener out a few months back and found a wet looking ring under it. I left it to dry out but I just went back into the room and the ring is still there.

There is no obvious moisture, it just looks wet.

Anybody familiar with this? I would like to seal the concrete but I would rather not seal in the wet mark.

My guess is that the concrete is saturated with softener salt, which pulls moisture out of the air like a dessicant... making the concrete appear wet.

A product like Salt Away would neutralize and help remove the salts.
