Basement bathroom with concrete floor

I have an older home with a bathroom in the basement. I recently had to tear everything out because the previous owner used drywall under the tile in the shower. So I am essentially starting from scratch. I will need new flooring. Currently there is tile over the concrete slab. I was wonder what i needed to do to make my slab capable of being the floor for my bathroom similar to this picture

Is that polished concrete in the picture?

If so, you need to remove the tile and adhesive and have the slab polished and sealed.

FYI - I deleted your other thread on this as a duplicate.

I'm not sure getting your slab into a shape where it can be polished/sealed would be worth it.

I dont mind putting another layer of concrete down or that it is polished. Looking more for usability than anything

Yeah, I assumed you would hire something like that out and see the estimates as being way too high.

FWIW, tile is about as usable as anything and it sounds like you have that now.

Wouldn't a nice ceramic tile floor be just as usable at a cheaper cost?

its vinyl tile and i had to remove some of it. It would be too time consuming to place new ceramic tile down if i can just seal the concrete and make it look nice.

Having had tiles glued down, making the slab look nice might be a lot more work than you think.

I agree, every hint of adhesive needs to be removed before you could even consider a polished concrete finish. IMO ceramic tile would be a lot easier.

Floor glue just gums up anything you attempt to use to remove it. Doesn't scrape well, sanding discs last about 3 minutes before they are toast. Solvents will most likely knock you out from fumes.

Tile with a good Thinset mortar that is designed to go over cutback adhesive would be the easiest path to take.
