Water proofing basement wall before finish basement?
Hello Helpers,
My house was built in 2000 in Central Ohio. Blocked cement basement. No water issue, no humidity. Some efflorescence was observed mainly close to bottom of wall meeting the floor. No wall cracks internally.
I am thinking to finish my basement. Should I dry lock the basement wall? I read mixed reviews about the dry lock on basement wall, some said the thick cement paint would fall off after 5 years anyway. But I am not sure if they have water issue to begin with.
Appreciate any opinion on this. Different products, etc ...
What if no water proofing products were put on the wall? I just weighing the consequence of do, or don't.
Thanks
Sean

Waterproofing is done on the outside, anything on the inside is water mitigation. Waterproofing is keeping the water away from the foundation in the first place with gutters, downspout extensions and grading.
