Bypass Fill-trol expansion tank incoming water supply?

I have a Fill-trol expansion tank connected to my boiler. I was wondering if I have a separate pressure regulator - can I plug and by-pass the incoming water supply on the Fill-trol fill valve so it is treated like a standard Extrol expansion tank? Will the expansion tank still operate normally?

Probably... But if your going through all that trouble just replace the tank with a standard one. Since your adding a conventional fill valve..

But whats wrong the the current tank?

If there are boiler fill issues, that tank needs to have 12 psi in it for it to fill the boiler at 12 psi...
