Boiler issue

New home owner here.
my heat worked well last winter. This year it worked for a bit and then stopped.
it seems like the thermostat isn't triggering the heat.
Its a gas fed Weil-McClain steam system.
I can get it to turn on if I manually raise the setting on the cut in. But the thermostat won't trigger it.
any thoughts?

What do you mean by "the cut in"? But, if you have a multi-meter, and know how to use it safely, find out where the 24-V control voltage is being lost. Otherwise, call in a professional.

Cut in

Is this a steam boiler you are referring to?

Your pressuretrol where you are adjusting your cut in is attached to a pigtail (black pipe) or should be. Sometime that pig tail gets clogged and must be cleaned or replaced. When it gets clogged it doesn't allow the switch to make and that's why when you raise it, it fires up.

It's 24V across that switch. jump across the terminal eliminating the switch and the boiler should start if that's the problem. If it is clean your tube or replace the switch if need be. You want your cut-in at 1/2psi and you differential at 1 1/2 for a cut out of 2 psi.

Hope this helps a little.
