how much systemic water pressure

Hi
Not being a plumbing / heating expert...
Have Burnham V7 boilers and hydronic heating
Recently had a well pump installed and the installer said our pressure tank switch was set too high and reduced it to 40/60 so pump comes on at 40 and off at 60
now heating contractor says pressure is too low for the Burnham boilers
so the question might be dumb but....

what system pressure do the Burnham V7s need?

PS: there is a Bell & Gosett FB-38 reducing valve

thank you

Your house pressure has nothing to do with your boiler pressure. You boiler pressure reducing valve should be set to about 12-15lbs. if it has not been adjusted.

Your main water pressure is considered normal for a residential home. I have no idea what your hgt. contractor is talking about.

As long as your boiler has the roughly 15 psi one has nothing to do with the other. Your boiler has a relief valve that will go off at 30psi.

Hope this helps a little

got it, thanks

Regarding the FB-38 that reduces the pressure, does it care if the domestic water pressure is 30 40 50 60 whatever? Is there a pressure where it works best?

No it does not. It just reduces whatever it is attached to, to the preset pressure of that reducer. As I said your boiler relief valve will discharge at 30PSI so you don't want it higher than that.

You must have a gauge on the boiler. What is the pressure?

Typical city water pressure is 50-60 psi, which as has been explained, is not related to the boiler pressure. With a well pump, it's whatever you set it at. Ideally, you should have a pressure gauge installed for your well tank.

Here in the relatively flat Midwest, for city water that uses a large elevated water storage tank, the pressure in psi will be about the height of the tank in ft, divided by two.
