Noisy boiler

Hi,

Can someone please help, we have a combi boiler very old 20yr+ VRT-OTA, VC/VCW Vailliant - not sure if this name is correct.

It has started making a loud noise as though a motor is running inside but is struggling??

Someone has suggested the boiler may need filling with water from the top?

Would much appreciate some help.

Thanks
Rebecca

Hi Becca, welcome to the forums! I've moved your post to the boilers category, there are some experts here who will be able to point you in the right direction!

This is predominately a North American based site and that boiler is a UK product. I looked up the manufacturer...... Valiant is a trade name. There would be an actual model number for that combi boiler.

That system should be running on an autofill system and you shouldn't have to add any water. I see that unit has an internal circulator pump. That pump may be what's making that noise.

Thanks Pete, Yes the noise sounds like a motor/pump struggling, hopefully it can be fixed.
