take out tree, put in slab
I'm going to replace a shed that has a wood platform base with one I'm going to put on a concrete slab. I have two questions (so far) concerning this.
First, my ideal location for the shed has a tree there right now. If I were to take the tree down what would I have to do with the root hole to adequately support the slab and protect against the ground settling underneath?
Second, can I put plastic under the slab as a vapor barrier to keep the shed from getting damp inside? Would it go on the stone before the concrete is poured?
Thanks for any advice.

Best bet, find another place for the slab.
The tree would need to be removed as well as all the roots, then you would have to deal with all the settling for years.

It's a pretty good sized maple tree. I'm going to replace the shed thats next to it with a wider one, and I thought if i took the tree down and moved the shed over it wouldn't stick out into the yard as far.
The more I think about all the work involved in digging the roots out the more I think I don't want to do it at all.
