Slowly deteriorating bricks

Some bricks that hold up columns on my back patio are deteriorating. They are slowly shedding a fine sand like dust. One inexpensive sealer that I applied did not stop the slow deterioration. Is there a coating that I can apply that will stop further deterioration? Send response to xxxxx@yahoo.com.

Post a picture so we can see what your seeing.
I'd be trying to figure out the cause for the failure, before doing anything.
Just a few reasons it could be failing.
Lack of gutters causing splash back.
No slope on the cap bricks so waters running down inside the pier.
Someone built it with to soft a brick.
