What mixture should i use to parge a cement block wall?

Looking for the recipe to make a parging mix to apply to a cement block wall. What are the ingredients for the parging mix; do I also need an adhesive?

Welcome to the forums!

For the most part it's just mortar/sand. Some big box stores sell bags of stucco mix, just add water.
Is this bare unpainted block?

Yes, it's bare cement block. What ratios and products do you recommend? Also, do I need an adhesive to ensure it sticks?

I'm a painter not a mason but I've done a little stucco work. I wouldn't think you'd need any additive. You can buy bags of mortar or stucco that already have the sand added, otherwise it's generally 3 parts sand and 1 part mortar.
