installing bolts in brick

Need to drill into plaster over brick wall. what is the best type of bolt to use?

What are trying to fasten to the wall? How much weight?

any drill will get thru plaster - even a wood bit,,, drilling into brick isn't recommended compared to drilling into the mortar separating the bricks,,, usually 1 can drill mortar using a carbide-tipped bit w/o having to use a hammer drill,,, depending on the weight of what's hung from the anchor, you could use a tapcon or, if heavier, a lead shielded lag bolt,,, shear strength is a factor to be considered but pullout strength is normally less of a consideration
