Should sharp sand have pebbles!?

Hi folks,
I've just brought home a bag of sharp sand. I'm just wondering whether it should really have pebbles in it or if I've got a duff batch!? They're quite big some of them 1/4 to 1/2 an inch in diameter.

Thanks for any thoughts

No, sharp sand should only contain sharp sand. No pebbles or rocks. If your making mortar then bigger pieces would make it unusable. If using it to make concrete then it doesn't hurt.

Best way to repair this cinder block damage

Hi all, I purchased an older house 10 years ago and I'm finally getting around to fixing a few issues with the cinder blocks in the garage. In the pictures below, the wall is right before the garage door opening and against the outside porch roof, not the inside of the house directly. I'm not sure if there is really any impact in leaving it alone, but was wondering how others would try to repair this type of damage, i.e. would you tear out the cinder blockers completely and then re-cement them into place? Summerhouse base nightmare

Hi all So made a concrete base for my summerhouse, mistake no.1 was making it bigger than the footprint in order to provide paths all the way around it as when it rained, water was getting underneath it. Mistake no.2, we wanted it to look nicer so added a patio area and then paved the whole area, including right around the summerhouse. The builder used resin between the slabs and we thought that would solve the problem and that the water would run off the summerhouse walls and away. However, what we didn't know was the resin is actually porus! We had a really nice insulated floor built for it and guess what? First hard rain and water came up through the floor and flooded it.......... So, how to resolve this without ripping up the nice floor, trying to lift the summerhouse (impossible), or wrecking the paving? My thought is this, underneath the 3" deep concrete base is soil - so what if I drill a series of small holes right through the resin and concrete base immediately around the summerhouse so that the water will have somewhere to go?
