Resurfacing exposed aggregate: What are my options?

I recently had a new retaining wall built from gray retaining wall block with a split face. Now as I look to rejuvenate our patio I think it needs to be updated to match the retaining wall.

The patio is of exposed aggregate concrete. Minus one minor crack it is in excellent condition. I had thought of laying thin pavers over it, but then wondered what other options are out there.

Can anyone comment on the options available to resurface exposed aggregate concrete?

First, a lot has to do with your area! If your in a freeze- thaw area there is probably nothing short of paint/epoxy that will be around after a couple of years.

No freeze-thaw they they make various cement & epoxy coatings but have never had the pleasure of applying.

I have some spalling on a section of my driveway and every year I keep wanting to try some of the epoxy material that my local concrete store has just to see if it will survive the winter, maybe this fall!

I live near Nashville, TN. We have mild winters, but it does freeze here. I was considering some of those thin pavers. I have seen the installation over concrete. I could do that. My issue would be the steps. They are formed also in exposed aggregate. The top step is just under the threshold. Any paver over 1/8" thick would be a problem. I have heard of decorative epoxy resurfacing. I just don't know anything about it.
