Decent Bathroom vanities?

We are looking for a matching bathroom vanity, linen closet, and medicine cabinet or mirror. We like several that menards has and one of the brands is masterbrand cabinents, it appears that they are made by aristocraft.

My wife likes some Foremost that Home depot sells but those are made in china and im not to crazy about that.

Anything I should stay away from? Any suggestions?

Thanks

Yes, particle board and that is what most of the lower priced ones are made of. Unless you live a charmed life eventually the bottom under the sink will get wet and that is the kiss of death for particle board. It swells up like a sponge and begins to crumble.

I agree, stay away from PB! You need to look closely at how the cabinets are constructed and what materials were used. Some of the cheap built cabinets look great at first glance

We settled on Briarwood Usa from menards. They are made to order so it will be 4 weeks or so until they are here.

I see solid wood doors and plywood base so it looks like a good choice. Be sure to varnish or paint the inside if not painted. Even plywood needs protection from moisture.

Thanks, I was a bit leery on the choice, but I havent read anything bad about the briarwoods relating to build quality. We has settled on a matching set by pace for about 1800, This was 2300 and seemed to be made from better material. I still cant figure out who makes the briarwood, They are made in midwest, but it seems to be a big secret who actually makes them.

The original budget for cabinents was about 1000, but for that price it seems you mostly are looking at chinese made stuff.

The 2300 was for The vanity, the medicine cabinet with side cabinet, 2ft x 18 inch linen closet, and a toilet topper.

Time will tell!

I believe the insides are finished, what about the back bottom and top? If its bare wood surely it wouldn't hurt to coat them?

Coating plywood is always good especially cabinet grade since glue on cabinet grade plywood is often not waterproof.
