restoring 50's formica serving trolley

I'm just starting to restore my serving trolley. Can't tell you how lucky I am because so far the formica surfaces clean just fine with Natura spray on cleaner and the chrome is coming clean with Bartender's friend.
I've taken apart the pieces to clean. My question is about the metal parts - swing arms for popup shelves, screws, and the like. These are all covered with what is most likely smoke or something sort of greasy. Should I be taking the metal parts off and soaking them in something to clean them? They are all sort of grungy - including the screws.
Thanks for your help.

I would not take anything apart on this trolley just to clean it. Use a degreasing spray and rag to remove the grease and stuff. Taking it apart may cause it not to go back together as it was originally intended, and screw holes may enlarge beyond their original size.

Oops, too late now, Chandler. Already apart. Was pretty careful.

It was a bit wobbly and I discovered it had slots for some sort of shims, to help it be sturdier, made out of rectangles of formica (must have been from scraps because it is a different colour and pattern) and they are missing. Got to find replacement somethings for them.

Any spray Orange cleaner will degrease them with no damage.
