Vinegar smell and sawdust

For several years, the drawers beneath my kitchen counter have smelled faintly of something like vinegar. The handymen I've had in for various jobs had no idea what it meant. But last week, when I opened the drawer, there was also some sawdust sprinkled on it contents.

I assume there is something eating the wood. How do I identify the problem, stop it, and keep it from recurring?

Welcome to the forums! Have you pulled out the drawer completely and looked up to the countertop bottom? Presswood countertops do contain trace amounts of formaldehyde, small amounts, and it could smell like acetic acid when released into the atmosphere. I would pull the drawer out and take a picture of trhe underside if the countertop and post it so we can see what you see. http://www.doityourself.com/forum/el...your-post.html
