Can anyone tell me specifically what wood this is?

I would say the floor looks like pine as well.
The maple I am familiar with does not show as much grain and knots.

There are many grades and species of maple. Spalted maple has more markings and wild grain. Not your maple bowling alley lanes.

Then, there's tigerwood maple. Awesome marbling!! I guess this thread is going to tie into http://www.doityourself.com/forum/de...od-inside.html

Agree the floor is Maple. When selling maple cabinets, we have customers sign a natural wood variation form. The obvious reason is the color will vary.
The good news is you have cabinet quality wood on your floor.

Thanks for the replies. The wood in the house is really nicely done. There are many features in the home that lead me to believe the builder was a fine craftsman that really took pride in his work. I'll have to get a few more pics in here that highlight that.
