New bifold door hardware is smaller than old

Hope I'm in the right place..
I bought replacement hardware for an old bifold door. The new pieces that go into the end of the door (rollers, spring loaded plunger deals, etc) are smaller than the holes left by previous hardware. I know when a hole is too big for a screw, you can put a dowel in, toothpicks, etc. Will that work for this? There are no screws... they just kind of get pushed/plugged into the holes.
Thank you

You will be better off buying the correct sized hardware.

Otherwise you would need to insert a dowel with wood glue, (assuming the dowel is a tight fit for the existing hole) let it dry, cut the excess dowel off, then drill the correct sized hole.
