Edge Grain Walnut Countertop
I'm afraid this post doesn't belong on this forum because I'm hiring someone to do the job but I do need expert woodworkers' advice. I want black walnut edge grain counter top and I can't do it myself because the sink is too heavy. I was quoted a price for the counter top and now they tell me the counter top supplier is charging an extra $133 because I want the edge grain to run the length of the counter top. The longest side of the counter top is six feet and most of that is taken up with sink. Is it reasonable to expect them to use pieces of wood that are long enough without having to piece them together? Thanks.

The boards run the full length of my living room but they are pine. We aren't talking floors though, of course. The pictures of edge grain counter tops on the internet all look like they run the full length of the counter top.
