Built-In Dining Nook Bench Measurements

Hi All,

We plan on having a build-in kitchen nook....Are there any standard dimensions for the height of a bench? Angle of the lumbar support? Seat-depth?

Any suggestions are appreciated!

Thanks!

Measure a comfortable chair. Allow for cushions if applicable.

When I built my benches, that's exactly what I did. I found a kitchen chair that felt right and used that as my finished height (I think it was about 18"). I also set the depth to about the same as the seat on the chair. The most important aspect was to angle back the base so there was room for your feet. Many people retract their feet under the chair when sitting so a flat face is not always a good thing. I think I used about a 20-25 degree angle from the base up to the seat.
