DIY level

Can I use a 2' level and attach it to a 6' piece of flat wood to use as a 6' level? Will it work well?

A lot depends on how straight the wood is. I've used shorter levels on longer boards and while it works it might not be as accurate as it would be if you had the longer level.

Level is level, simply a matter of reference between two or more points, so yes, it will work. But the trick here is how "flat" is your "flat board", so although I almost always do it anyway simply as a matter of habit, this is definitely a case where you would want to flip your level around and check it both ways to be sure.
