How high should the top of a mantel be?

I have check online and seen several different suggestions so I thought I would ask you guys what your opinion is.

The hearth is at floor level. What level would you suggest is the best height?

A little additional info is that this is in a small 1 bedroom cabin. The wall that it is on is 8' wide and is about 80" high.

Most often I think it's dictated by the clearance above the firebox opening. Once you've met the minimum height requirement you can go as high as you like.

There is no standard height since every fireplace size and height is different. The "minimum height" for the bottom edge of a mantel that is made of a combustible material is 12" above the fireplace opening, See R1001.11 exception 4.

That being said, 60" is what might be most pleasing for the majority of them... since that's just below chin high... any higher seems high, any lower seems low.
