looking after wood

We’ve had a big tree cut down for safety reasons but I want to use some of the wood to have some ornamental features and remember the tree. I’ve cut the shape that I want but now have bare wood. Should I treat it, stain it or something else to enhance the wood and protect it in future??

Welcome to the forums.

That depends on the type of wood and what you want the final finish to look like.
A clear finish would protect. A stain will usually make darker but add no protection.

You would also need to let the wood dry first.
