Hanging a table on a wall

We have a cherry rectangular dining room table, 4 x 6 ft., that is in our family room after we converted our dining room into a library. We would like to store the table vertically on a wall. I am thinking about detaching the legs, reinforcing the apron, and hanging the table on a cleat attached to the studs. My concern is would this cause the apron to loosen or pull away from the table top. The table is good quality, custom built, but pretty heavy. Any thoughts?

I think you are the only one with eyes on the project and can actually make that decision! Your description seems to support!

It sounds like a do-able job but what will the table look like hanging on the wall ?
What are you going to do with the legs ?

You could post a picture or two of the table...... How-to-insert-pictures.
