Folding Wall Bracket for Counter

Need a folding wall bracket for a 48" x 14" x 1 1/2" butcher block slab for extra counter space.

Would like something that is easy to use, avoiding pinched fingers and sharp edges.
I have no problem paying for a top of the line bracket.

I think the slab would weigh about 25 pounds. Anchor the brackets into 2x4 studs.

I've installed similar shelves in workshops. I've used Sugatsune folding brackets.
Search for Sugatsune EB-200/EP.

There are lighter duty but......

Paint on cabinet hinges question

Hi guys, I have a question. I hope this is the appropriate forum for it. I started a project to try get paint off of my cabinet hinges. I did a google search and a gentle solution was to put the cabinet hinges in simmering hot water with baking soda. The idea is the paint will slide off the hinges using my finger nails or a toothbrush. During my research, I read (and watched videos) that doing it this way would be gentle on the hinges and not ruin the finish. I did this today on 4 hinges. However, it seems the finish on it (which is antique brass) is coming off. Instead of an antique brass color, the hinges have a black color appearance to it. Why would this happen? I'm not sure what I did wrong. Could it be the age of the hinges? They're probably 20-30 years old (it came with the house when I bought it 6 years ago). I can't imagine that warm water and baking soda would cause the finish to wear off. Some feedback would be most appreciated. Thank you!Read More

Lazy susan type turntable for recliner chair

I wonder if anyone has ever built a wooden lazy Susan that would hold a recliner chair? I have searched everywhere online hoping to buy something to allow a chair to swivel without installing a swivel conversion kit. I could not find anything except large lazy susans made for tabletop placement. This makes me wonder if it is possible to build one. Why couldn't I cut two 30" circles from plywood and place a swivel base mechanism between the circular boards? I would probably add some small blocks or glides around the base to protect the floor. I would screw the 4 chair legs to the top board to secure the chair. Does anyone think this is doable? I know there are conversion kits to add swivel bases to recliners but I thought this might be a different approach and achieve the same result. Appreciate any thoughts on this idea. Read More
