Bathroom sink rust stain
Looking for some ideas or tips to remove the rust ring around my bathroom sink drain, see image. Thanks.

There is no way to remove the rust ring. That's the sink actually rusting.
You can pull the strainer out, sand the metal and then carefully paint with a good oil based or paint meant for porcelain applications.

When you remove the drain you may find it is what's rusting. If so, clean the sink with Zud and replace the drain.

I doubt vinegar will help with a rusting cast iron sink. Normally rust doesn't occur on the stainless or chromium of the drain, so the advice given so far will be about all that can be done.
