Install dehumidifier vs fix well pump

My well pump is in crawl space under the stairs, all above ground level. I recently noticed mold on some of the beams overhead. It's a small area and hard to access on daily basis. I was thinking I would need to install dehumidifier with drain, though it would need to drain to outside (no drain or sump pump to hook up to) . But I'm not sure how common humidity issues are with a well pump. Maybe it's a problem with the well pump.

If that is an enclosed area it may sweat a lot from the cold well water in the tank and pipes. A dehumidifier is one fix. Sometimes it just requires some fresh air flow.

Pictures of what you have there can be very helpful. How-to-insert-pictures

I would address the moisture problem more at it's source instead of constantly expending energy to remove it. The crawl space floor/ground can be covered with 6 mil sheet plastic which will greatly reduce the amount of moisture making it into the air of your crawl space. And, as PJmax mentioned increased ventilation in the crawlspace will allow the humidity to escape without having to buy and power a dehumidifier.

Probably more work than you want to consider but here climate is similar and our pumps are never in the house. They are out by the well, often in a small well house.

If that little cubby is insulated and sealed from the outside you could install ventilation grates on the access cover so it gets airflow with the inside of the house.
