Grey Spots on Carpet. Could it be mold?

I moved into my condo three weeks ago and initially I had asked the landlord about greyed areas on my carpet and he said its due to usage and their carpet cleaner couldn't remove those stains/darker edges of the carpet. Later I started noticing these grey spots on the carpet and I am concerned it might be mold. I don't want to pester the landlord because I am paranoid and think it's mold but if it is I definitely want it fixed since we are planning on having a baby soon and something like this would drive me insane. My new furniture is also moving in in a few weeks so I want it fixed before that.

It's a 3rd floor, top level condo. 2 bed 1 bath. Has a balcony. in the MD Rockville area. I don't have any pets. I am not sure what kind of AC unit we have but we recently replaced the filter.
Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated.

 

Nope looks like someone dripped something on the carpet. Kool-aid, soda, etc. Probably permanently stained it.
