Yesterday, boiling a delicious tomato-base pasta sauce, it bubbled and splashed onto the stainless steel above the range, and left a mark. My wife's recipe included lemon juice and vinegar and spices, and she suspects one of those ingredients. She tried cleaning it, but unsuccessfully. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Of course, this does not affect the stove (and oven below), which works great, and we agree we can live with the mark. But if we can remove it, great. Thank you.
The problem with stainless steel appliances is that you can get them in reduced fingerprint style.
With that choice there is a protective coating over the stainless steel that can become damaged.
If you post the complete model including all following letters I can check.
From Frigidaire....
If your appliance has Smudge Proof Stainless Steel, use a soft cloth, clean with a mild dish detergent and water or a 50/50 solution of vinegar and water. Rinse with clean water, dry with a soft clean cloth. Do not use appliance cleaner, stainless steel cleaner or cleaner containing abrasives, chlorides, chlorine or ammonia. These cleaners may damage the finish.
They gave the same exact care instructions for non Smudge Proof models.
I would try a mixture of water, vinegar and dish soap.

I have a favorite enamelware coffee mug that has burned on coffee/sugar/water on the inside bottom. I tried soaking all night in Dawn soap, vinegar, and vinegar/baking soda. Nothing budged it. When I try to drink coffee out of it now, a white film appears on the surface and it tastes 'off'. Can the cup be saved?Read More
