Lost my clock/calendar

My ten year old Acer laptop has quit maintaining the date and time. Every time I shut it down, it reverts to a date and time in 2006. I assumed that this was a bad cmos battery. I replaced the battery yesterday (as well as the 11.1 volt battery). The thing still goes back to the earlier date after shut-down. Any ideas, suggestions?
