Just an FYI for those still behind the times.. Get it now while you can. There is no restrictions from what I see..

Yeah, it's worth it.

Yes, it should work on your old computer.
I say that because, (with a bit of tweaking and $50) I've got Windows 10 running nicely in 64-bit mode, on a 12 year old Dell dimension 5150 that came with Windows XP and 512kb of memory.

The extension of OS support is worth it. The security upgrades are worth it.

Did the download and then attempted to run. Got this error message.

Error (null) is not a valid Win32 application.

Oh... well that will be complicated to update... And I don't think you can do it from that link. you would need a disk... IMO best off buying a new computer when your ready...

Laptop or desktop joel?

Both a laptop and desktop running the XP Pro plus another desktop running XP Home.

These computers do absolutely everything I desire, except for browsing the Tractor Supply pages (damn scripts) and going with a new computer plus new operating system would most likely also require upgrading all my present software. I don't do gaming or CAD or anything even close to those operations. Probably 90% is Internet surfing with the rest simple word processing and spread sheets.

XP is not a qualifying OS for the free upgrade, it likely wouldn't run very well anyway.

I didn't like Windows 10 at first but I noticed my computer is running much better.
The #1 thing I struggled with previously was waking the machine up from sleep, I would avoid going into sleep mode.
Everything seems to function correctly now and I didn't adjust any settings.

What assistive technologies are eligible for the extension?

We are not restricting the upgrade offer to specific assistive technologies. If you use assistive technology on Windows, you are eligible for the upgrade offer.
I don't think there is a restriction... If you read the Q and A... And is why I posted... Thats how I read it anyway...

FWIW, I had 10 and the anniversary update broke a lot of stuff. My computer wouldn't sleep, my webcam was questionable, etc. I tried going back to 7, ran into driver issues, went to 8 and that works fine. With Classic Shell it looks like regular Windows. Just went to 8.1 and had to fix a few very minor things but it's OK.

If you aren't a big gamer it's hard to beat Linux.
