Opinion on this deck plan
Just a sketch but just looking for thoughts on this. It's an odd setup because I want the decking perpendicular to the house.
I'm not sure exactly how to attach the beam to the house, if it can be done with a hanger or not, etc. I would like to have the joists sit on the beams.
I can go 6x6's for posts if required, that's not a big deal.
Just wanted to hear some thoughts, thanks.

If you've read any of the deck threads here you will find frequent advice to go free standing and not have a ledger. It means a few more posts and footers, but avoids lots of problems associated with ledgers.

Is there a problem with ledgers? I've built a few the 'normal' way (not perpendicular), but this will be a first.
It seems like a 'freestanding' deck would just mean have a post closer to the house and then cosmetically attach the beams to the house rather than structurally, yes?

Ledgers are boards which require puncturing an otherwise water-tight wall. Not always but can be problematic.

Screw it, I'll just do it normally.
One question, my joist span is going to be just under 12' and that's the limit for 2x8. Do you guys think this will be bouncy? If it's going to be bouncy I'll upgrade to 2x10 joists. Beam will be 6x8.

Given the small added cost, I'd go with the 2x10s since you have room for them.
If you are planning on composite decking, check the instructions; many recommend 12 joist spacing.
