Good morning, I'm in the process of building a porch. I've got a quick question that hopefully someone can help me with. The exterior of the house if clad in rigid foam insulation. When connecting the joist hangers for the ceiling joists, so I A) install directly over the foam sheathing, B) cut out the sheathing and connect directly to the house, C) install another ledger for attaching the joist hangers? This is going to be a shed type roof, vaulted with no ceiling. I'm planning on tying in each of the posts to the house, which is why I need to attach the joists....if that makes sense.

I have a cracked drive way by the street where it's raised a good 6 inches from the pavement. Finally the plastic car shielding from my car got caught on the driveway ripping it off. My street is getting paved in a few weeks and I would like to get it repaired in sequence with the new road. Taking a sledge hammer I was able to break it up. It's 8 inches thick in some areas but eventually it cracked. I'm thinking of taking a saw to create a straight line and having the paving company doing the road fill it in with the street. My other options were using concrete again or maybe using brick. Some have said I should replace the entire slab. My neighbor did that last year and it already cracked. The concrete business seems to be the business to get into. You don't have to offer any warranties. I will not pay someone to do an entire slab and have it crack in a year. My entire driveway is 60 years old and most slabs have only a single crack in them. I don't know what has changed over the years with concrete but the new stuff seems to be worse.
