Pressure teated (pt) or composite

I am going to use 1X4 as trim around a deck next to a wall. Would COMPOSITE be any better than PT. The composite would easier to paint. I understand you have to wait a while before painting PT wood. This trim would be exposed to snow and ice during the winter.

What type of composite are you referring to? I know of composite decking but it is not 1x4 then there is 1x4 but it is usually vinyl. If I had the choice I would go with vinyl as it never rots and it takes paint pretty well though I've never tried it at ground level. You do have to watch how you fasten it as it can expand and contract a fair bit. If it's not fastened down well it can buckle or pull loose.

I would not paint anything if I could help it. As with Dane, I'm not sure of exactly what material you have in mind, as composite to me implies decking.
