Laying footers in crushed stone backfill around pool

I'm building a deck for a partially sunk above ground pool. The trench that remained after the pool was sunk 30" and installed was backfilled with 3/4" crushed stone. This is going to leave me an area of stone about 2.5" wide all around the pool.

My question is what are some options for digging the footers that will be close to the pool and in the area that's all crushed stone? I don't think the onground pre-fab footers will be approved by my township.

Any help and guidance is appreciated!

You can't really dig footers in the stone. As fast as you dig the stone will flow into the hole. You'll be able to get a hole with 45 degree sides but that will leave big sections of your pool unsupported which could be bad if it's filled. Can you pour a concrete apron or patio?

Thank you for the response. I stopped the backfill so my new thought is to place those sonotubes where the footers will be laid, fill with stone around them, and then pour footers. Do you think that will work?
