Question Repair or replace wood stair railing beam?

I'm new here, and would love any and all advice!

This railing is pretty badly splintered and cracked - is it salvageable with wood filler or is it time to cut out and replace the worst sections? My only experience has been refinishing decks over summers during college - I know the basics, but am new to repairs like this.

Time to replace, wood fillers are useless on Pressure Treated lumber. Don't section it off to repair, do the whole piece and move forward.

Can you post a pic from a little further back so we can see the whole picture instead of close up?

Also replacing will be quicker/easier than trying to use a filler that will fail sooner or later.
