Preventing butt joint rot

This is the hexagon I'll be laying out. The last one's biggest rot issues were where the ends of the 2x6 butted against each other for every "slice of the pie". Suggestions on how to mitigate that this time around? Caulk it every year? Try to find some kind of exterior grade T molding to insert? I was going to leave a space for air flow but because of all the crap that falls on the deck from all my trees spaces tend to jam up with debris a lot.
