Where deck meets siding?
Installing new deck boards but before I did I ran flashing tape along my ledger boards. Now I'm thinking of running vinyl quarter round all along the surface of the deck where it meets the siding (I believe this is called counter-flashing?). So that water runs of the siding and past the meeting point between the deck boards and siding and doesn't collect longer under the deck board ends between the bottom of the board ends and the flashing tape. The boards are flush with the bottom of the siding row.

Counter flashing ? It sounds like something that will trap water under the siding.
The siding is supposed to be cut shy of the deck boards so no water can be wicked up.
A picture would be helpful..... How-to-insert-pictures

See Figure 14 and 15 of the DCA 6 deck guide for the proper way to do it.

Depending on your siding type, there may be a recommended clearance to a deck.

Ok according to those figures I already have the ledger board flashed and the deck boards are slightly below the last row of siding. They didn't appear to make any mention of running any kind of seal between the surface of the deck boards and the bottom of the siding so I won't go ahead with that idea
