hi there, i am planning to build a deck that is 16 inches high, for the footing I am just wondering if i still need dig up to 4 ft or if i can use block concrete footing. the deck would be 12 x 16 ft.

I'm getting ready to install new decking on my old deck I ripped off old 2 by 6 treated boards and I'm putting down composite grooved boards. the problem I'm having is figuring out what to do at the edges since these boards are grooved I don't want the groove showing or the ends of the board showing and if I picture frame this the only boards I can find that aren't grooved are 8-foot which means I'll have several seems on the outer edge but I can live with that. What I really need to figure out is what to put on the outer sides and should I picture frame the deck put the face up to that overhang of the picture frame or run the fascia up level with the deck boards and just not have any picture frame at all and where can I buy this fascia? Is it PVC? Lowe's and Home Depot really don't carry a whole lot of composite. The boards that I have were discounted half price and they are Hannah Brown.
