Deck to Patio Transition (Stairs)

Hey All,

I want to install 2 steps down from a raised deck to a ground level patio (not built yet).

How can I protect the bottom of the stringers from moisture?

I could set the stringers on the ground, concrete, or the patio itself, but either way, its still going to be exposed to any moisture collecting at the base.

Just like millions of other decks. Use pressure treated wood that is rated for ground contact.

Yes, that was the plan. I was hoping for even more protection though.

Treat the cut end with Copperkote or Anchorseal2.

Do not put them directly on the ground as they will sink in over time.

Also a good idea to cut an old shingle and put that under them especially if on concrete as it prevents moisture from wicking up.
