Question pitch from pine cones

We put new cedar deck boards on last summer with 2 coats of stain. We had some really hot weather and it seems that the pine cones were pitchier than usual when they came down. What is the best way to remove the pitch off of the boards?

I'd try mineral spirits in an inconspicuous spot to make sure it doesn't affect the stain.

I'd try something a little milder, automotive wax and grease remover!

From Yankee Magazine:
Mayonnaise is one of the best substances for cleaning pine pitch, grease, or tar off your hands. Rub it on, let it sit for a few minutes, and clean off the spot.
From This Old House:
Coat still-tacky tree sap with mayo and let sit for a few minutes. Wipe away the softened sap with a clean rag.
(I added this because they said "sticky". May not work if pitch is dry.)

Could work on wood too and is not likely to damage the finish.

Keep in mind, mayonnaise is mostly oil,
That is a new one for me, if it does remove pitch I would have some concerns that it's going to leave a stain from the oil!

I tried a couple of different products after scraping the bulk of the pitch off 3 spots close together. Dawn dishwashing soap, mayo and Fast Orange. The mayo and the Fast Orange did the best job. I left them all on for almost 10 minutes before wiping them off.
