Ceramic tile decoration ideas

So I have 7 different tiles from italy that vary in size and they are painted to be different places I visited in Italy. I am trying to come up with a creative way to hang them up in my house besides just nailing them up there.

You can put them in picture frames and hang them that way. They can be used as trivets if they are not delicate. You can put them on a plate stand so they can be placed on tables or the mantle.

We have a 6" tile from the Netherlands that my wife has on a little wooden stand in her curio cabinet. I don't know where she got the stand from.

Stair risers: To paint or not to paint...

Hi all, lurk a lot, don't post often....looking for some advice, or at least some food for thought/educated opinions on whether to paint our stairs...neither my husband or I are particularly good at this kind of thing. For context, we are trying to do some small touches to help sell the house eventually. We are on a very tight budget, all DIY. The interior is a bit frankenstein, bunch of mismatched trim (that I am trying to at least paint universally "powdered snow"). The biggest aim is to give an overall cleaner look. Now....the stairs.....they overwhelm the livingroom, I think it is partly because the room is pretty small plus the wood is dark and...to be honest...ugly. I am thinking of leaving the tread and newel posts as they are with everything else (including the trim top and bottom of the fascia) "powdered snow", with the fascia painted the wall color. Would this look good? I'm reluctant to cover all of the wood, and I'm not thrilled about painting the treads....my luck it would all end up peeling or getting damaged by my dog's claws. I am a bit concerned with the gaps between the riser and the outer string looking bad, also, I know this is going to be a LOT of work, and really want to be sure it is worthwhile....will it look THAT good? Lighting question/suggestions

Hello, in my living room I have only one light source aside from natural light. It is from the ceiling fan. Well I had spent a fair amount of money on this fan without considering how much light it was going to put out and well, it's not enough. I was wondering if there is any light fixtures that I could install that would allow a fan to hang from it that i already have? Or does anyone have any suggestions of how to add more light in our living room? And please do not waste my time with suggesting adding plug in lamps. Those are obvious simple solutions. I'm looking for actual wired in lighting solutions if there are any. And if anyone can explain to me how to add pictures to these posts I can show you what I'm up against. Thank you.Read More
