best adhesive for bath surround

I have a 5 piece tub surround for a shower - I'm looking for the best and strongest adhesive to use to attach to greenboard. instructions say to use notched trowel to spread but advises using liquid nails or Locktite using a caulk gun. Not sure if I am better off doing it that way or buying it in a bucket to spread easier- any advice?

There is an adhesive specifically designed for tub surrounds. It comes in a tube same as other caulking type materials but it is called for surrounds. If you are in the box stores it is usually located on the top shelf with other job specific items such as mirror adhesive and such.

Here is one, there are other brand names available.

This is the one I've always used.
Loctite Power Grab Tub Surround Construction Adhesive from Loctite Adhesives

Easy clean up with water, grabs quick, no having to off gas like with the Liquid Nails.
(off gassing is having to apply the panel, then remove it for a few min. and reapply)
